Ready to inspire your students? Amy loves to visit schools, libraries and conferences. Her own story of failure and persistence will engage and motivate students while she sneaks in concrete details of the writing process, including how to develop ideas, writing a rough draft and revisions, revisions, revisions.
Amy’s presentation was fantastic from start to finish- she is engaging, relevant, witty, and meaningful. I know I loved her insight on the revision aspect of the writing process, but more importantly, my students loved it as well. After the presentation, students commented how much they appreciated her wisdom on a topic they are very much familiar with, but often feel in the dark about.

MIDDLE SCHOOL & HIGH SCHOOL
BOOK TALK PROGRAMS
Part education, part motivation and 100% entertaining, Amy will share her 30-year path to becoming an author. (She still has her first rejection letter from age thirteen!) She’ll talk about ideas and how to start with a “what if” and turn it into a story. Using actual examples from her own rough drafts, she’ll share the importance of revision and the process of getting published. Finally, she’ll leave plenty of time for Q & A so that each presentation truly reflects the interests of your audience. Have a particular topic you’d like Amy to cover? She’s happy to tailor a program to fit your needs.
“Recently, our school had the privilege of welcoming author Amy Fellner Dominy to our elementary campus. Her presentation was not only engaging, but educational as well. I would highly recommend her visits and hope to have her back again next year!”
—Mrs. Mayberry, Resource Center Specialist, Field Elementary
3RD GRADE & UP
A fun and engaging program! Amy will start with a short presentation of her path to becoming an author. She’ll talk about ideas and use that as a springboard into a Story Stew exercise where Amy will lead students as they develop stories of their own as a group. And because Amy knows just how many questions kids will have, she leaves plenty of time for Q & A.
“Amy is a fantastic writing mentor for kids! Her visits are funny, engaging, and definitely informative. My students couldn’t stop talking about it days later! If you’re thinking about bringing her to your school campus, you will not regret it! A combination of hands-on guided writing activities and a question and answer session makes her visits aligned to the common core and tremendously educational.”
—Sheila Rowe, Coyote Ridge Elementary
KINDERGARTEN TO 2ND GRADE
Keep Amy in mind for visits to the youngest students. This September, Amy’s first picture book, COOKIESAURUS REX will be published by Disney. Amy is looking forward to visiting classrooms with the story and engaging the youngest readers in activities to spark their own imaginations.
SMALL GROUP WORKSHOPS: DIALOGUE, CHARACTER, STORY PROBLEM
Amy pulls out her unique experience as a playwright and novelist to teach kids the basics they need to know in a way that’s easy for them understand and put into practice. Students will be lead through activities including Reader’s Theater and writing exercises. A fun, interactive program! Choose from your favorite topic: Dialogue, Character Development, or Creating Dramatic Story Ideas (Character, Goal, Conflict, Consequence.)
“Amy Dominy’s presentation was interesting and engaging. The students really enjoyed her author visit; they could have asked questions for hours! Students learned where Amy comes up with her ideas, characters, settings, and what its like to get published. It was a great lesson for the students where they learned a lot and also had fun!”
—Stephanie Angelakis, Akimel A-al Middle School
Amy will offer a free Skype visit to classrooms/book clubs/reading groups. All she asks is that the class, school or organization have her book(s) available. Skype visits will be 30 minutes, with lots of time dedicated to Q & A which is why students should be prepared in advance with questions.
