Marketing: Strength in Numbers

This week, I visited a few local libraries and bookstores in my guise as “Author.”  If you’re going to promote your book, that means sticking your neck out and shaking some hands, right?  Normally, introducing myself to strangers and pitching my book is enough to make me queasy on the inside and trembling on the outside.  But this week it was actually easy. Why?

Cover Story

Right now, as I write these words, a stranger three thousand miles away is working on my cover.  I’m talking about the cover of my first novel.  This is the face my baby will show to the world.  And let’s not understate it:  Covers are important.  Extremely.  Just think about how you buy books.  You wander through the shelves and you see an interesting title and what do you do — you check out the cover.
